The Tennessee Conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry has set an April 5, 2013 deadline for applications for the following scholarships for students already in college or heading to college this fall. Two of the scholarships are available to students attending United Methodist related college or universities. One of the scholarships awards up to $1,000 to minority students enrolled at Martin Methodist College. The final scholarship will provide $1,000 to honor an outstanding leader from a Wesley Foundation/Fellowship in the Tennessee Annual Conference.

The Merit Award Scholarship DOWNLOAD APP – COMPLETE APP ONLINE
This scholarship is made available through a rebate of 10% of the funds collected by the Tennessee Annual Conference churches on United Methodist Student Day. These offerings held in the local congregations are given to the General Church to be used for scholarships throughout the United Methodist Connection across the world.
To be eligible, the applicant must:
- be a full, active member of The United Methodist Church for at least 1 year prior to application.
- have a 3.0 or above grade point average or equivalent.
- be an undergraduate student currently enrolled or enrolling in the fall at a United Methodist related college or university.
- demonstrates a financial need.
- be recommended by their pastor.
The Martin Methodist Minority Student Scholarship DOWNLOAD APP – COMPLETE APP ONLINE
This scholarship with a maximum award of $1,000 will be given to a qualified minority student or divided into two $500 awards to two qualified minority students pursuing an undergraduate degree(s) from Martin Methodist College.
To be eligible, the applicant must:
- be a full, active member of The United Methodist Church for at least 1 year prior to application.
- have a 3.0 or above grade point average or equivalent.
be an undergraduate student currently enrolled or enrolling in the fall as a full time student at Martin Methodist College. - demonstrates a financial need.
- be recommended by their local congregation pastor.
Walter Russell Lambuth Memorial Scholarship DOWNLOAD APP – COMPLETE APP ONLINE
This scholarship was created by the United Methodist Foundation of the Memphis and Tennessee Conferences after the closing of Lambuth University. This scholarship will be awarded to deserving students in both the Memphis and Tennessee Conference each year administered by each conference’s Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry. This endowment has provided a maximum of $5,000 to be awarded for this academic year.
To be eligible, the applicant must:
- be a member of a United Methodist Church in the Tennessee Conference for a minimum of 2 years immediately prior to applying for this award.
- complete the application from the Conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry in the conference in which their church is located.
- must be(or be accepted as) a full-time student(12 or more credit hours) in a United Methodist related college or university.
- must have a minimum score of 21 on ACT and a high school or college/university GPA of 3.0. (Copy of ACT and transcripts should accompany application.)
- The scholarship must be used during 1 academic year and the appicant can apply for renewal through this scholarship application process each year.
The Wesley Leader Scholarship DOWNLOAD APP – COMPLETE APP ONLINE
The Tennessee Conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry has agreed to offer the Wesley Leader Scholarship. The Board believes that an essential role of the Wesley Foundation/Fellowships is to develop strong spiritual servant leaders of Jesus Christ who will assist in the transformation of the world. This award will be a maximum $1,000 per year. It can be given to a deserving student or divided into two scholarships of $500 to deserving students from one or two of the Wesley Foundation/Fellowships in the Tennessee Annual Conference.
To be eligible, the applicant must:
- Be an active member of a Wesley Foundation/Fellowship on a College or University in the Tennessee Conference for at least 1 year prior to application.
- Have a 2.5 or above grade point average or equivalent.
- A recommendation letter from your Wesley Foundation/Fellowship Director.
